Fresh Out of College Charcoal Study | Memory, Form & Faces | 2018-2021
Charcoal Studies: Memory, Form & Faces is a portrait series created between 2018 and 2021, during my early years as an emerging artist fresh out of college. These charcoal drawings became a space for me to refine my skills, explore human expression, and connect with memory through mark-making. The collection features portraits of my grandmother, my very first male portrait, and spontaneous studies of celebrities and public figures whose faces intrigued me. Each piece reflects a season of growth—artistically and personally—as I used the medium of charcoal to understand form, emotion, and the quiet power of black and white.
